The Orphan
An old pain that clings to me
that land that burnt my feet
and tried to tear out my wings
those scars I walk on everyday
they hurt, they’re numb, they’re never gone
for cuts made can never be undone
I cried and I cried
I thought I was to drown
but hope came and gave me wings
Away towards the moon I took my flight
Where is hope?
Where’s my strength?
Where is the knife to cut out these strings
pulling me back to that hell I thought I’d never leave?
Fire falls from the sky
It burns but I won’t consume
I want to scream but no ears can hear me
I choke, I cannot breathe
No one comes! No one to hold me!
The birds are singing a sorrowful song!
“My heart knows there is a place I can call home.
Here I wander among foreigners… I speak but they won’t understand what I say though we use the same words. I’m a stranger in this flesh, my skin wants to leave me. Numb! I just want the pain to go away. Leave! Leave! Where are my dreams?”
I cried and I cried
